Official League rules!
1. Format: Swiss Tournament winners earn 1 point, losers 0 points.
2. Matches are emailed out at midnight on Sunday. Players have 1 week to contact their opponent with the provided email and arrange a match.
3. The winner emails the result of the match to umdgamingsociety@gmail.com with the subject header “SCII Match Results.” Attached should be a recording of the game in case of dispute
4. Players have 1 week from when the match is announced to report the results of their match, if they haven’t the match will be declared a tie and both players lose.
5. If a player attempts to, but cannot contact their opponent they will be awarded 0.5 points.
6. If all matches are completed before the 1 week time limit the next round begins. If the four scheduled rounds are completed an overtime round begins, if that round is finished before November 28th, another begins, etc, until November 28th. This gives you as many chances to win as possible, so its everyone’s best interest to finish their matches as soon as possible.
7. The top 4 players win a $10 donation credit to PowerUp 24, allowing them to participate in the finals live. However this is a charity event so please donate a toy and help those in need.
8. If you don’t want to participate in the finals live, you can still participate over the internet, however it must be at the appointed time (To be determined). But really where is the fun of winning alone in your room when you can win in front of dozens of people!

Schedule
Additional rounds may occur depending on how quickly these are completed

Well its finally here… (in about 16hrs from this point in writing) and after a long 12 year wait, its about time.

At this point your either going to buy it, or not. If not then this post does nothing for you, other than recommend you start playing FPS like Bioshock 2 or Singularity. And if your a fan of racing, check out Grid. Thats it, good bye!

Now for the rest of you SC2 fans, let me answer your most obvious questions about SC2 and Gaming Society.

Will there be a tournament for SC2?

About two years ago I went on record saying I would host the first tournament for SC2 at UMassD the week it came out. This was when everyone and their mother blindly believed it was coming out in Winter of 2009. Saddly this did not happen. However, YES there will be a Gaming Society Tournament for Starcraft 2.

Okay, when is the tournament?

Not this week for one. Most likely you will have until the first week of December to polish up your Starcraft 2 skills and brace for Zerg rushes. A possible internet league is in the works.

Will I have to bring my PC to play in the event?

The event will be BYOC (Bring your own computer) to some extent or another. Other tournament details will be TBA until we at Gaming Society learn more about the LAN structure of SC2.

So there you have it, a mini announcement that Gaming Society will be hosting a Starcraft 2 event later this year. Just remember to please take a shower after every 15 matches online, no one likes a rancid gamer, especially those playing around you!
