The end is nigh!

It is finally finals. This week is the last week of classes and the beginning of finals. Thank you everyone who attended and/or helped out with our events. We hope to see your continued support in the spring semester.

This week we are only having card night and anime night. Both of them will be in their usual rooms at their usual times.

Anime Night: WE WILL FINISH BOTH PUMPKIN SCISSORS AND BACCANO!

Card Night: It will be casual. For people interested, Next semester we will apparently be having a semester long standard mtg league. Rules about it will be explained this Wednesday.

First off. Thank you everyone who attended Powerup 2011. We had more people attend this year than last year, and raised more money. We broke over $1000 worth of donation. Thank you Daniel Chaplin and Eric Holmquist for being awesome. They were our big winners this year. Dan donated the most and Eric had the most achievement points.

Anyway, here is what’s happening this week.

TUESDAY: 12-6-11
ANIME NIGHT: SENG 227 6:30-9:00PM

We are almost done with all our shows. Please be there before 6:30, since we are starting our shows right from the start.

WEDNESDAY: 12-7-11
CARD NIGHT: CAMPUS CENTER 006-007 6:00-9:30PM

We are having our traditional, Pick-A-Pack draft. It is a regular draft where you bring your own packs. It can be any pack as long as it is a 15 card pack and you do not have 3 of the same pack. 2 pack being the same is fine. Other than that, it is a regular draft with a keep-rare.

THURSDAY: 12-8-11
GENERAL GAMING: LIBERAL ARTS 215 7:00-9:30PM

MARIO RETARDI. Yes… For those who missed it at PowerUp, we are having another mario retardi event. It will basically be the same format as Powerup’s mario retardi. Sadly, no prize though (to my knowledge).

The statement above is a reference to the SyFy series, Battlestar Galactica. It was a good show and many funny moments were had.

Anyway just as a reminder, POWERUP 2011 HAPPENS THIS SATURDAY!.
Another email will be sent out with more information. We will be tabling for it this week in the campus center.

I am feeling under the weather at the moment, soo the events this week will not look as pretty as I normally make them.

Tuesday (Anime Night): 3 episodes of each now. We will start exactly at 6:30pm so don’t be late.

Wednesday (Card Night): Another standard tournament HOWEVER… The winner will get free entry into PowerUp.

Thursday (General): Brawl Tournament in Larts 215. Sign-ups will start at 6:30 and the event will start at 7:00pm.

That sums it up for this week. We hope to see you at Powerup 2011.

My fellow gamers, in accordance to the law of Capcom and Marvel, with association of UMassD Gaming Society and Project Hawk Events, this Thursday General Gaming Night original event plans have been objected and overruled in favor of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Ultimate edition!

Starting at 7pm
This Thursday, 7:00pm
In LARTs, room 215.
BYOC is allowed (Xbox 360) and Joystiqs will be provided as well.

The only other objection, is not being at this Free event!

POWERUP 2011: CEDAR DELL SOUTH CENTER

10:00AM – MIDNIGHT

Here it is people! POWERUP 2011 HAS A DATE. Attatched to the newsletter is a donation sheet and a general information page about what we are having and information alike. There is an entry fee of $15 or A NEW TOY WORTH $15 OR MORE. All proceeds to to Toys for Tots. There will be awards for larger donations. Our best prize is if one person can raise $2000. If someone can raise that much money, it will be worth it. If you have any questions, please ask.

Now that that is out of the way. Time to tell you what is happening this week.

TUESDAY: 11-15-11

ANIME NIGHT: SENG 227 6:30 – 9:00PM

Iria is finally done. Now greatness is here. May have taken two years, but we are showing BACCANO! We will continue with Pumpkin Scissors. Hopefully we will finish both shows by the end of the semester.

Announcement from Ryan: This Friday is the deadline for the fan-art/fan-fiction contest. Please make sure your entries are in.

WEDNESDAY: 11-16-11

CARD NIGHT: CAMPUS CENTER 006 AND 007 6:00 – 9:30PM

This night, the theme is playing Vanguard format. Please make sure that your proxy (the vanguard) is a printed proxy.

Update from Mike: This Saturday in LARTS 215, we are having a sealed event at 11:00AM. I am not sure what set it will be, but most likely it will be Innistrad. Sadly, I do not know exactly the price. If I had to guess, it is probably $25 to $30. I definitely know that it is cash only.

This week it is a free-for-all. There will be Brawl, but it mainly is bring whatever you want.

GREATNESS IS COMING!!!!

As you are already aware, SKYRIM COMES OUT THIS FRIDAY!!!! To make this even better, we have no school on Friday. Sooooo three days of skyrim. Who’s gonna clock more than 20 hours this weekend? I WILL!

Anyway, here are the plans for this week.

TUESDAY: 11-8-11

ANIME NIGHT: SENG 227 6:30-9:00PM

Sadly, the greatness that is Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi has come to an end. There were its ups and down, goods and bads, and OMG PLOT?!. No matter what, it is still great and will be remembered as one of the great anime classics. Now we start The Ugly Yet Beautiful World. I have seen the show so I will not give my thoughts about it. Just have to wait and see.

WEDNESDAY: 11-9-11

CARD NIGHT: CAMPUS CENTER 006 AND 007 6:00-9:30PM

As a reminder to people, WEDNESDAY FOLLOWS FRIDAY’S SCHEDULE! This is due to Veterans Day on Friday. We will still have club on this day.

Our event for the night is a Legacy Tournament with a twist. We will all up to 20 card to be proxies. So get that pair of scissors and your printer ready.

THURSDAY: 11-10-11

GENERAL GAMING: LARTS 215 7:00-9:00PM

Our associate Fatalhawk97 (not fatal and is certainly not a hawk) is running a tournament. He calls it the AMERICAN GI JOE. It will be Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 man free-for-all, and each round will have different effects. Note: “a better, more halo game may present itself,” says Fatalhawk97.

Also, SKYRIM PRE-RELEASE!

To Warhammer 40,000 players, I will be going home this weekend (sadly), soo I will leave it up to Dalton if he wants to run it.

For our big gaming convention on December 3rd, we are doing achievements. We need 100 of them! Current games there will be GTA IV carmageddon, League of Legends, Marvel VS. Capcom 3, Brawl Minus, Rock Band, Mario Retardy, Magic The Gathering, and assorted board games. GENERAL GAMING: LIBERAL ARTS 215 6:30-9:30PM

This week we are doing something different. We are teaming up with UMadd and having an anti-drunk driving seminar. We will be having Mario Kart there, but you will be playing with drunk-driving goggles. We hope that you will come and enjoy.

An Update for the RPG groups that use 006 and 007 on the weekends. This weekend, there is a school open house. We have been asked to let the people in there to not be forced out, because we have the area. To sum it up, you may be starting a little late this weekend, but you will still have the rooms.

Sorry for the short newsletter. I am tired and want to sleep like a snorlax.

Hello peoples. If you could not tell from the quote, I am rewatching Zatch Bell online. Sadly it is subtitles, but at the half way point, the fansub group Anime-Destiny does some of the best jokes I have seen from a fansub group. They make me laugh.

Standard tournament. Free to enter, fun for all!

ANIME MOVIE NIGHT: SENG 227 6:30 – 9:30PM

OMG! TWO DIFFERENT EVENTS ON THE SAME NIGHT!!! Yes, we have a movie night. We are watching Summer Wars. There will be food, drinks, candy, and a costume contest with a prize.

THURSDAY: 10-20-11

GENERAL GAMING: LARTS 215 7:00 – 10:00PM

We don’t need no controllers to game. This week, we are being low-key and having board games/card games. Games will include chrononaughts, Dominion, and others. Feel free to bring your own too.
